When we sent out a message looking for speakers for the Online Video Now! Wix Meetup in Cardiff, Sam Padget from 74 Productions got in touch.
Little did we know, at that time, he was on a filming trip in the Artic somewhere, in the deep snow on a Skidoo - how James Bond can you get #impressed.
In 2018, it's possible to make a career out of doing what you love, we're no longer tied to the desk whilst suffocating in a shirt and tie.
But in order to live that lifestyle, it's essential to keep ahead of the trends, and that is what Sam and co-founder Ben did, when they began their business in video production.
"When we started 74 Productions, we wanted to make documentary films," Sam said. "The popularity of branded content means we still can, just it now also has a commercial application.
"We also believe that, with the affordability of video equipment and software, any business should be able to afford a decent online advertising campaign.
"With this in mind, our workflow has been developed and designed to suit the needs of small to medium sized businesses, cutting on cost without compromising on quality.
Keep on telling stories
74 productions have been successful, and have expanded their range of service to extend the power and reach of their films. Sam explained: "We have developed other services for businesses including entire social media/web campaigns, events coverage and aerial filming services."
"It all boils down to our passion for telling stories, whether it’s a fisherman in the Arctic or a company launching a new product.
Say Bye-bye to the Hard Sell
"No-one likes to feel like they’re being sold to, so our approach to online advertising video is through branded content.
"Put simply we make a short, documentary-style piece that references a product or brand but doesn’t ram it down the throat of the consumer. Making content that people want to watch, rather than have to watch, makes a video that people want to share.
And hello to Brand Exposure
"With this strategy, the content becomes more universal, appealing to those who are after the product, or those who just want to watch an interesting short film, either way the viewer has been exposed to the brand.
"Companies need to be looking for ways to stand out from the crowd. To create innovative, engaging and creative videos over traditional forms of commercial content is a good starting point.
